7 Exercises of the Japanese Korugi Massage That Can Help You Look 7 Years Younger

With age, the skin of the face becomes saggy, and it’s not just because the facial muscles weaken and the production of collagen and elastin decreases. There is one more thing that causes aging — the displacement of facial bones. As a result, the oval face becomes more blurred, and the cheeks and the chin become saggy. However, there is a special technique for massaging the face that helps restore the initial position of the skull’s bones and improve microcirculation in facial tissues. This system is called Korugi.

An important note!

Muscle tone decreases over the years and fat gets redistributed. In youth the fat forms a homogeneous layer, but in old age it starts to accumulate in certain zones.

Get a mirror and some massage oil before you start the procedure. It will help you keep track of whether you’re performing the movements correctly as well as avoid extra friction. Also, your skin should be clean.

It’s prohibited to perform the massage if you have ENT diseases, disorders of the lymphatic system, chronic skin pathologies, or facial wounds.

You should rub and press the face pretty hard, but without creating any painful sensations.

The Korugi massage contributes to weight loss in the face.

1. Cheek lift

Place your elbows on the table. Make fists. Rest them against your cheekbones with the fingers against your face. Your muscles should be relaxed. Stay in this position for 5 seconds.

2. Working with the forehead

Bend your head back a little bit. Make fists. Press your forehead on the hairline with your middle finger knuckles. Continue pressing while sliding the hands toward the temples and the earlobes along the hairline. After that, slowly move your fingers down your neck until you reach your collarbones.

3. Smoothing the cheeks

Keep your hands locked together, your thumbs should be straight because you’ll need their side part to perform the exercise.

Place the tip of your right thumb under the left eye near the nose. Make a sliding motion toward the ears by pressing the skin. Right after that, slightly slide your thumb down the side neckline — from the earlobes to the collarbones. Repeat the last part of the exercise 2 times.

Perform the same exercise on the right part of the face.

4. Smoothing the forehead

Make fists. Place the middle knuckles of your fingers slightly above the brow line and make a rubbing movement toward the hairline. Now move the hands back to the initial position but a bit to the side and make an uplifting movement once again, therefore, smoothing the whole surface of the forehead.

5. Opening up the eyes

Make a fist. Lift up your brows. Slide your hand along the brow line with the help of the knuckles of the index and middle fingers.

6. Working with the lower part of the face

Make a fist and keep the index and middle fingers straight up (but still bent at the middle knuckle). The movements should be performed with the help of these 2 fingers.

Press and pull your skin forcefully from the chin toward the temples. Start from the place that is below the corners of the mouth. The distance between pressing and pulling should be small. You should make 7-8 movements in total.

7. Finishing the massage

Open up your palms. Place your fingers on your forehead and slide them smoothly toward the temples.

After that, slowly slide your fingers from your cheeks to your collarbones, along the side of your neckline.

Perform this massage once a week for the best results.
