We are in the midst of one of the most catastrophic wildfires that has already taken around a billion animals and continues to cause wreak across Australian land. And while things are not looking to get better anytime soon, the Irwin family has stepped up to help save as many lives as they possibly can, and their deeds haven’t gone unnoticed.

We at Bright Side always support these selfless initiatives, and while we’re devastated by the Australian wildfires, we’re glad some people are going above and beyond to help these defenseless animals.

Saving wildlife is in the Irwin’s blood.

Steve Irwin’s family has kept and continued his and his grandmother’s legacy of helping all forms of wildlife, and their actions definitely speak louder than words. The Irwin family is helping rescue and treat animals in need at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, and they have been of great help during the horrific Australian wildfires.

The zoo was founded in 2002 by Steve and Terri Irwin. Their mission was to protect threatened wildlife, and today Steve would be proud to know that the hospital has helped treat and save over 90,000 animals, many of which were badly injured by the Australian wildfires.

They have been rescuing animals for the past 18 years.

The Irwin family (Steve’s wife and 2 kids), has continued to be the guardians of wildlife in Australia, developing different projects intended to protect all kinds of animals. The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is giving injured wildlife a second chance. It is one of the world’s largest and busiest purpose-built wildlife hospitals, and they’re constantly trying to save Australia’s native species.

Additionally, all the profits that the Australia Zoo takes in are going toward securing nearly half a million acres of conservation property in Australia and protecting and nurturing all kinds of animals. When you visit the Zoo, the funds go to directly sponsor various wildlife conversation studies.

And their help has been crucial in saving over 90,000 injured animals.

The organization has already funded and participated in over 50 conservation studies, researching different ways to preserve their native wildlife. And on a yearly basis, the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital takes in between 6,000 and 8,000 animals which require different types of medical care and shelter.

The bushfires have been ravaging Australia since the beginning of September, and they’re still active. Our thoughts and prayers go to all of Australia, and while this comes as a little consolation in times when so much has been lost, the Irwin family shows that, together, we can make a difference to help our planet, even in such difficult times.

With each visit to the zoo, visitors fund various wildlife conservation projects.

Do you think that these initiatives can repair some of the damage caused by the Australian wildfires? Do you know any other families that have selflessly contributed to help our planet in these difficult times? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
