People Are Sharing Things Strangers Have Done for Them, and It Restores Our Faith in Humanity

All we need on a bad day is for someone to understand us or help us, but what we get is often the complete opposite. In a recent thread on Reddit, users were sharing moments when they realized that people indeed can be caring, even if they don’t know you.

We at Bright Side know that sometimes a small act of service or a kind word is enough to brighten up your day. Because of that, we made a selection of the cutest moments these people had with complete strangers.

• I work at a drive-through, and one day I was having a really bad day. This lady came up to the window, and after I handed her food out, she just stared at me and then said, “You have a really nice smile. Keep on shining, sweetie.” That made my week. jesseMARS/reddit
• I was driving on the beach and hit a patch of deep sand, and that’s when I found out that my 4×4 system was not operating, there was a fault in it. So I got stuck, and went out and began digging to get myself out. After literally 30 seconds of this, 4 guys from down the beach at a campsite came running over to me and yelled, “Hold on, we are coming!” They all came and helped me push the car out of the deep sand and had me on my way in no time! • I was on my walk to a gig (guitarist, kinda broke, with my guitar, mics, pedals, mic stands, and my 20-kg guitar amp), when this guy saw me and offered to carry my amp a couple blocks uphill. ingenredes/reddit
• I was on a holiday in Scotland. I had tried to walk all the way up a mountain, but the weather was really poor, and I thought better of it halfway and turned around. That meant I had to wait 4 hours or so for my bus ride to the pub at the bottom of the mountain. There weren’t any earlier buses. The pub owner first refused my tip, and then arranged a lift for me with a couple that was going the same way. He also offered to tell the bus driver that I had gone home safely (as he’d promised to look out for my return). Scottish people really are amazingly kind. Frillybits/reddit
• One day, I was going to school and I got a flat tire turning a corner. I didn’t notice right away but when I did, luckily, there was a small lot nearby I could pull into. I was kinda freaked out cause I had no idea what to do. I guess someone driving by saw me, and he came into the lot to ask if I needed help. I told him what happened, and he took the time to change the tire for me. I very much appreciated that and I ended up not being too late for school. scmetxmes/reddit

• I used to work at a café and was having a really bad day. Went to the freezer, had a breakdown, and when I came back, my first customer was a woman who tipped me $12 and all of her change. It doesn’t seem like a whole lot, but that money paid for my dinner that night. darkbloomfae/reddit
• Years ago, when I was dining alone, a stranger paid for my meal without telling me. I did not find out until I went to pay my bill, only to find out that it had already been taken care of. It was Christmas season and a wonderful gift to me. My only regret is that I was not able to thank this generous person. PuzzlesandKeys/reddit

• I was picking up a few groceries, but misjudged how much they would cost. Upon checkout, my food stamps wouldn’t cover it all, and I didn’t have money. So I started to pick what I had to get rid of. The man behind me (who was a big tough biker) saw this and said, “I will pay for all of your groceries.” I was like no, it’s okay, I don’t mind! But he insisted. After it was paid for, he took out his wallet and handed me $20. I was in shock at how a human could be so kind. I was in disbelief. • My cashier bought my hot dogs for me since I didn’t have enough money for them while grocery shopping. Someone also stopped me before I left the parking lot because my wallet was on my car lol.. and someone said I have a great smile. (Even though I hate my teeth with a passion because they look bad). • I was really struggling to complete a parallel park on an unfamiliar busy road and this guy saw me and offered to help direct me in, so I didn’t have to worry about hitting the cars. I still couldn’t get it correct, and the dude offered to park the car for me. I was so demoralized by my failed attempts that I agreed. He parked it in no time and gave me back the keys.
