The Ancient Healing Therapy These 8 Celebrities Do, and What Doctors Say About the Procedure

What alternative medicine is today, cupping therapy was in ancient times. This is when therapists use particular kinds of cups on your skin to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, and overall well-being.

Some research even suggests that wet cupping can be helpful with infertility if you are trying to get pregnant. It may improve your circulation, which also helps with conception. These celebrities swear by cupping therapy and opened up about how it helped them heal both internally and externally.

1. Dwayne Johnson

The Rock tried cupping for the first time in 2021 and said, “Looks more gnarly than it feels, but overall I enjoyed the therapy. Always looking for new techniques to keep this 250 million-year-old dinosaur body balanced and optimal with not only all my past injuries, but my daily grinding. It all takes its toll, so being proactive is critical. We only get one body, so we gotta take care of it.”

2. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow claims that she loves Eastern Medicine, cupping in particular. On her website, Goop, she wrote, “Eastern medicine has a different approach than Western medicine — it’s more holistic. The root of the problem is addressed, as opposed to a symptom being attended to with prescription medication, only to return.”

She is very thankful for antibiotics or surgery when necessary, but she’s been affected “tremendously by various practices that help the body heal itself.”

3. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston appeared at the premiere of the movie, Call Me Crazy, with circular marks on her back that people noticed. As it turns out, she is no newbie to cupping therapy. In fact, she’s been using this as a circulation stimulator for years. Although she seemingly tried to cover the spots with concealer, they were still visible in the bright, flashing lights from the paparazzi.

4. Calum Best

Calum Best, a British-American TV personality, says that he has had a “cupcake of blood” extracted from his head and claims that he’s never felt better.

“It’s so hardcore, but I left feeling 10 times lighter, refreshed, and with a cleaner system. I went back 2 months later to do it again, and 10 times less blood came out, which he said showed that my circulatory system has cleaned. Stagnant, unhealthy blood comes into the cup, and as there is no air, it coagulates straight away.”

5. Justin and Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber opened up about her love for natural health remedies. “I swear by chiropractic work, I swear by acupuncture. For me, chiropractic work is anything from cupping to Grastin scraping to a little crack here and there. I used to be a dancer, so I was super into anything that was supposed to be good for injuries. I love going to saunas, infrared saunas, I’m into all of that.”

Justin Bieber also seems to use cupping therapy and is open to posing for magazine shoots and being photographed after the treatment.

6. Kaley Cuoco

After intense workouts and becoming “absolutely wrecked,” Kaley Cuoco decided to try cupping. “My angel Flory literally scraping my legs and hips. I’m so tight I can barely bend or turn. I haven’t been able to actually move in weeks.”

Her therapist said, “Your fascia is intense and tight, and I need to remove it. Your nerves and your ligaments get better.”

7. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga seemed to feel healed after the cupping treatment, as she exclaimed, “What a beautiful day, got beat up pretty good with some Chinese medicine cupping. But good to stay healthy!”

8. Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson tried cupping during her pregnancy because of her very swollen feet. She has had 3 different “cups” working on her foot; and after the treatment, her foot has decreased in size.

Although she tried using some frozen chicken to heal her foot, it appeared that cupping worked way better for her. “My feet were so swollen, I was like, ’What do people do to, like, deflate?’ And you use ice. I didn’t have an ice pack. I just used chicken.”

Have you tried cupping therapy before? What was your experience like?
