It might seem like the world of fame is perfect and there’s no place for illnesses or other things that, we, ordinary people, deal with every day. Yet, even stars can come down with a bug or even have serious conditions. These 8 celebrities decided to open up about their health to support those who also struggle.

1. Emilia Clarke — brain aneurysms

She had just finished filming the first season of Game of Thrones. All of a sudden, Emilia got struck with 2 brain aneurysms that caused her excruciating pain, vomiting, seizures, and headaches. As a result, some parts of her brain are no longer usable.

“It’s remarkable that I can speak and live my life normally with no repercussions. I’m in the minority of people that have survived that,” she said.

2. Billie Eilish — nervous ticks

She spoke about it in a series called My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. During the interview, Billie suddenly turned her head and opened her mouth. The interviewer asked, “What’s going on? The fly?” She replied, “No, I’m ticking.”

Eilish was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome when she was 11.

3. Ryan Reynolds — anxiety

Ryan revealed that he has struggled with anxiety for many years, and it was really intense in his childhood. He says, “I’ve had anxiety my whole life, really. And you know, I feel like I have 2 parts of my personality, that one takes over when that happens.” He thinks it’s important to model different behaviors to destigmatize mental health.

4. Nick Jonas — type 1 diabetes

Nick was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He lost about 15 pounds in 3 weeks, was thirsty all the time, and had mood swings. His mother says, “I said to my husband, ’He looks like a prisoner, he has no muscle tone —— everything’s gone.’” His family supports him, and Nick monitors his blood sugar and gets insulin shots.

5. Morgan Freeman — chronic body pain

After a major car accident in 2008 where Morgan got injured, a condition called fibromyalgia was triggered, which means constant chronic body pain. The actor said he had to give up many hobbies, like sailing.

Still, he keeps his chin up, “I have to move on to other things. I play golf. I still work. And I can be pretty happy just walking the land. I play one-handed. I swing with my right arm.”

6. Bella Hadid — Lyme disease

The model calls her condition an “invisible” one. Lyme disease can affect the skin, the joints, the heart, and the nervous system. It also occurs in phases. Bella mentioned nearly 30 symptoms she has to endure: brain fog, light and noise sensitivity, nausea, weight fluctuations, and many others.

She reveals, “Every day I’ve felt at least 10 of these since I was probably 14, but more aggressively when I turned 18.”

7. Pink — asthma

Pink has suffered from asthma for a long time. She said, “I had really bad asthma. Sometimes I ended up in the hospital. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I couldn’t breathe.” She admits that it was the scariest thing in her life.

8. Halle Berry — type 1 diabetes

Just like Nick Jonas, Halle “shoots up” with insulin. However, she found out about it unexpectedly. She moved to New York, landed a role in 1989, and during the filming she fell into a diabetic coma. She was unconscious for a week.

She explains, “Diabetes caught me completely off guard. None of my family had suffered from it and although I was slightly overweight in school, I thought I was pretty healthy.”

How healthy do you think you are? How often do you see a doctor?
