An Artist Redesigns Disney Characters Giving Them Realistic Bodies

Prepare for an enchanting transformation! Wyethe Smallish has created a wonderful, diverse collection of fuller-figured princes and princesses. These reimagined characters challenge traditional beauty norms most delightfully.

1. Belle

Whoever made these didn't register the fact that these Disney "princesses" didn't start as princesses. They were hard working women, HARD WORK. Like, labor. And their diets were different. Simple. So, these bodies don't make sense.

Belle proves that intelligence and beauty come in all sizes. She has already taught us once to look beyond appearances and appreciate the true essence of a person.

2. Princess Aurora

In a dreamlike twist, this sleeping beauty awoke to a world where every body type is appreciated! Now with a fuller figure, Aurora demonstrates that you don’t need to be skinny to captivate kingdoms or win over charming princes.

3. Ariel

Gone are the days of only slender princesses under the sea! Ariel is all set to dive into new waves of self-confidence and embrace body positivity.

4. Elsa

The ice queen is turning up the heat with her bold new appearance! Swapping her slim frame for a more curvaceous one, Elsa encourages us to let go of old beauty ideals.

5. Cinderella

Girl was up from dawn to dusk cleaning a mansion, tending a farm, and fed scraps... Plus, they wore corsets with gowns, so what's going on?

What funny is the fact that one can't make the same lines by hand drawing and this ( artist) has a perfect replica but larger 😂 realistic body's

-

Reply

Can I remind everyone that Cinderella was malnourished?! She was not exactly eating the same food as her step sisters and step mother. She was eating the same garbage that the servants were eating. She would not be plump. I get body positivity and all, but can we at least try to stick to the narrative of the story??

-
-
Reply

All of these princesses are wearing corsets, so this is all wrong.

-
-
Reply

She's wearing a corset most women did in this time period. And Cinderella was starved by her stepfamily how we expect her to have all these curves is shocking.

-
-
Reply

So, realistically all women are not gonna look that plump. Could have kept to the realist standard just by fixing the waistline.

-
-
Reply

Be so for real, overweight does not mean ‘more realistic’ half these princesses do constant work and physical labor, how would they be like this-

-
-
Reply

Yeah, why are you assuming all these girls are well-fed?

Also, I like real people with a bit more meat on their bones, but objectively as an artist, all these characters looked better before this artist made them all look kind of dumpy. If the purpose was to prove all bodies are beautiful, this was a complete failure. If you want to see depictions of beautiful, healthy women with some extra weight on them, go look at the works of Frank Frazetta. Those are realistic healthy female bodies worth aspiring to!

If you were gonna make her more realistic, you should have just made her collarbone stick out with her original body, because she actually is supposed to look healthy, she's being starved and made to work everytime. I think you could've incorporated your "realistic look" in another picture, one where she has lived in the castle

Nope nope nope, Cinderella was starved, she'd probably be closer to being anorexic. She legit lived off leftovers and scraps, she'd be skeletal, and ill looking.

I love the after pictures. There is something unhealthy (mentally) with misrepresenting body types. Not every woman has a snatched waist, or a princess. These after pixs aren’t showing obese woman, on the contrary they are showing body positivity; while beauty is only skin we should know it comes wrapped in all kinds of packages.

These characters are all representing very young ladies in their teens. IDK about you but when I was that age I was very thin. On my wedding day I was 20years old and my waistline measured 19”. Cinderella looks like she’s had a couple kids to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This comment was too good to show it to everyone.

LOL. This such a rage-click article. But, fine, I'll bite. The titleshould read: An Artist Redesigns Disney Characters Giving Them 10-15 More Pounds... in the most unattractive places.

I'd love to see an article that says: "An Artist Redesigns Marvel Characters Giving Them More Realistic Bodies," then just make everyone look like Thor from End Game.

And lastly, the point of these characters are meant to be really beautiful - not average (her name is 'Belle' not 'Moyenne" for goodness sake). The villains are meant to be really evil looking (Jafar, Scar), the Dad very... dad-like(?) (Maurice and the Sultan).

But again, whatever.

This comment is so true. The artist just made them unappealing! I mean I thought the idea of a Disney princess was a fantasy!? No one fantasizes about being overweight!

I'm very sorry you didnt find the disney princesses arousing, because they were drawn slightly more realistic, and without their pencil sized waists.. that must be so hard for you

-

I think Cinderella looks hot in the redesign but slightly overboard just slightly trimmer and shed look like most girls I see

There is nothing wrong with either image. If you think this is obese then you are a part of the problem, and clearly need to make an appointment with optometry. The weight stigma and weight bias towards women is honestly disgusting.

This isn't obese but hey goofy according to the BMI (outdated junk science) dang near everyone is overweight. Skinny also doesn't equal healthy 🤷🏼

Was there a comment here?

How are these after pixs considered obese? These pictures are not of real women, but should reflect body types of real women. I applaud Disney for removing the power of the male gaze from these images.

So it would make sense that Cinderella would look like this unless she didn't eat the same amount of food as her sisters. Cuz they looked like this so if she didn't then the original design would make more sense but she'd be thinner and more malnourished looking with eyebags

Why can't they just leave it alone..its beautiful just the way it is..Can't you people just create something new instead of trying to perfect perfection??????. This has totally gotten our of hand!!!!!

Something crazy happened here... Sorry, it's a secret.

I draw comics and I think this as gone to far it is an animated cartoon movie " they aren't meant to be real-life or realistic people

-
-
Reply

Nope. Major disagreement with Cinderella. She was literally being abused by her stepmother and stepsisters. Realistically, abused and neglected teenagers/young adults, aren't thick like this.

The comment was deleted. Go home guys.

So, you have a problem with realism when it comes to people changing a cartoon, but then come up with reasons why she would be that thin, due to realism? Interesting take.

Y'all in the comments acting like the edits make her look morbidly obese or something... 🤦🏼 To all the people who cry "unrealistic!" - is it more or less realistic for one's waist to be narrower than their head?

This comment is beautiful but so out of place.

This is so unrealistic for Cinderella. And naturally skinny people exist, especially teenagers which Cinderella was.

I do thing Cinderella would be ridiculously skinny she works all day and night problems exhausting but I see the point

Yea honestly ngl. Not only that though but we also don't know how much food they give her, and tbh it's probably not a lot.

Our favorite princess with the lost glass slipper now has a bit more to flaunt. Rocking her beautiful gown, she shows that you don’t need to be petite to be the star of the ball!

6. Princess Tiana

Worked with a lot of black women, and some black women are just rail-skinny and the original Tianna here looks curvy by comparison.

Meet Tiana, the determined and industrious princess who’s breaking new ground! In her stunning green attire, she exemplifies that beauty encompasses a variety of shapes and sizes.

7. Jasmine

Okay everything was looking fine until that last picture when she loke gained 10 pounds. The artwork isn't just lacking in skill but it's also really inconsistent.

Check out Jasmine, our adventurous Arabian princess soaring on her magic carpet with a fuller figure! Decked out in her signature turquoise attire, she’s setting an inspiring example that ruling a kingdom doesn’t require a slim physique.

8. Meg

Look at Meg, the Greek goddess! She’s proving that you don’t have to be super skinny to save the day and stand up to powerful gods.

9. Mulan

Is there a good reason you added more definition to the jaw? It makes her face look just a little too much like a man's and a woman doesn't bulk up that much unless she's a body builder. You can add the muscle but her small figure was accurate. Her shoulders shouldn't be so wide.

Mulan’s strength, determination, and her new curvy figure prove that heroines can look different and still be powerful. It teaches us that true bravery comes from inside, no matter your shape or size.

10. Belle And Adam

Adam, our prince, has embraced a fuller body, teaching us that fairy tale endings aren’t about having a slim, royal look. Their story challenges stereotypes and encourages us to accept and love ourselves and others. It’s a reminder that real beauty comes from within.

11. Prince Eric

But he worked on a ship, prince of not. Update could be him in 10-15 years after sitting on the throne but not in his prime

Check out Prince Eric with his new look! He’s showing us that you don’t have to have a slim body to be a true hero.

12. Rapunzel

this makes sense since she's been locked in a tower her whole life, she can't have an amazing fitness routine

Rapunzel is rocking her new princess look with her flowing locks. She’s proving that climbing a tower of confidence doesn’t require a slender figure.

Due to contemporary beauty norms, styling a plus-size body can be more challenging. However, one woman stepped up to help by sharing smart and innovative tips on how to enhance the look of any outfit for a fuller figure.

DOES EVERYONE HATE FUN? THEY ALL LOOKED ANOREXIC BEFORE LEAVE THE ARTIST ALONE AND JUST APPRECIATE THE ART PLEASE

Yes, many -- if not most -- female characters in cartoons and anime are drawn with unrealistic proportions. Not exaggerating them would be remarkable but I would applaud the effort if there was any real artistry involved. All the artist did was thicken the waistlines and widen the bust on some of them. There's no extra definition of the curves and the few changes to the faces are frankly awful. They didn't do most of these princesses any favors. If you're going to make them full figured, do it right and respect the source material. An AI would have done a better job giving them life like figures.

These are fantasy films. Why can't we enjoy movies for the fun and escapism they provide. Why must we tare everything down with reality.

This isn’t more realistic it’s just fatter. Let’s wake up and admit our country has an issue with obesity and we need to address it. Stop validating unhealthy lifestyles to patronize the masses. Stop watching movies and go for a walk

None of these characters were created in the twenty first century and it's common fact that the older you go back in time, the thinner the women are because no one was too busy faking inclusivity and pro obesity
