Jamie Lee Curtis is a smart, confident, and busy woman. The 64-year-old star is not content to just sit back and coast through life, instead, she actively pursues her passions to make a positive impact. However, in order to be the productive and successful woman she is, it seems that Curtis knows how to set her priorities. That’s the reason why the Academy Award nominee recently rejected an invitation to one of the most sought-after events in Hollywood.

She rejected an invite to the Academy Awards nominees’ party.

Jamie Lee Curtis has turned down an invitation to attend the upcoming Oscar nominees’ dinner. The talented star who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once explained, “Mommy goes to bed early... 7:30 p.m. is going to be 9 before we get food, and you know what? There is nothing good happening with me after 9 p.m. Nothing, zero!” she went on saying.

The “lineage link”

On a different note, during an interview, Jamie Lee Curtis shared what it’s like to be nominated in the same Academy Awards category as her mother, Janet Leigh, and how it creates a “lineage link.” Despite being aware of the connection, she never thought it would happen. In fact, Jamie Lee Curtis earned her first Academy Award nomination for her role more than 60 years after her mother’s nomination for Psycho.

Additionally, her father, Tony Curtis, was also nominated the year before in the best actor category for The Defiant Ones. Although the 64-year-old actress has her own legacy, she says her real life is separate from her fantasy life in the entertainment industry.

She’s only up for ’matinees’

Furthermore, the Oscars’ private dinner isn’t the only event Curtis would skip because of her early sleep schedule. In fact, the actress has expressed her preference for daytime events in 2 recent interviews.

The Freaky Friday star suggested that musicians like U2, Coldplay, and Bruce Springsteen should consider doing matinee performances, as she prefers to sleep rather than attend those shows at a late hour. “I am gonna just say this now... U2, do a matinee. Coldplay, do a matinee. What about a 12-noon concert, Coldplay? What about it?” she wondered.

The actress then addressed Bruce Springsteen. “Do a matinee! You’re old!” she said. “Why wouldn’t you let me come see you... I will come and hear your 5-hour concert, Bruce, at 2 o’clock, and I’m gonna be home and in bed by 7:30,” she went on saying.

For her, rest and relaxation are crucial.

Jamie Lee believes in the value of hard work and earning her rest as a reward. She enjoys the feeling of accomplishment that comes from putting in the effort and sees it as an opportunity to build sweat equity. This philosophy extends to all areas of her life, including motherhood, marriage, and friendships.

She believes that helping others and putting in the work now will ultimately lead to a more satisfying and fulfilling life. However, she also acknowledges the importance of rest and relaxation once she’s earned it. “There will be a point where I want to relax and not worry so much about my sweat equity... when I’ve earned my rest,” Curtis shared.
