The first portable vacuum cleaner to remove dust from carpets was built in 1905 by Walter Griffiths. We are still using this model of vacuum cleaner, just with a much-improved functionality. By the way, robotic cleaners are becoming as popular as regular ones. Well, let’s take a look at the two of the best products in these categories on Amazon.

We at Bright Side have chosen two different but highly rated vacuum cleaners and compared them in detail so you can choose the best one for yourself.

1. Shark upright vacuum cleaner with powered lift-away

Functional ratings:

  • Suction power 4.8
  • For cleaning up hair 4.7
  • Easy to assemble 4.7
  • For stairs 4.4
  • Lightweight 3.7

Pros to consider:

  • Anti-hair technology actively removes hair from the brush roll to help prevent tangles.
  • The DuoClean nozzle is ideal for carpets and hard floors, gliding across all types of floors and picking up large and small debris.
  • LED lights illuminate hidden dust
  • You are offered a free 5-year warranty
  • Size: 12.2×12.6×30.51 cm

Cons to consider:

It may be too heavy to carry around the house while cleaning, the vacuum cleaner weighs 6.6 kg.

Customer review:

We’ve had this for almost a year now and I can comment with certainty that this is the best vacuum cleaner we’ve ever had. In terms of suction, it just cleans everything so well leaving nothing behind. All the dust, pieces, cat and human hair. The carpets look like new and you can use the handle part to go through corners or sofas and armchairs. The power is incomparable and has remained the same after many months of frequent use.

I find that it can be heavy and loud but you don’t need to lift it much from the floor. I find myself bending far less than I used to with my traditional vacuum and so my back doesn’t hurt much after using this. It has a long cord to go through a large open plan or a couple of rooms next to each other. If you have any health conditions keep in mind it is quite heavy.

At times if there’s anything big that got in, it can give you the red light which means it needs cleaning. We clean it frequently to maintain the quality and we recommend doing that with such a pricey product to get the most of your moneys worth. @Mersa & Sean

2. Bagotte robot vacuum cleaner mop

Functional ratings:

  • Battery life 4.7
  • Suction power 4.6
  • Remote control 4.6
  • Noise level 4.5
  • For cleaning up hair 4.5

Pros to consider:

  • This robot will do the cleaning instead of you!
  • This vacuum cleaner is quieter than regular ones
  • The 2.7-inch thick design easily clears the space under furniture
  • The robot has both dry and wet floor cleaning functions, just purchase a water tank for the ultra 3-in-1 function
  • 100 minutes of continuous cleaning
  • Automatic return to charge, so it’s always ready to clean

Cons to consider:

This vacuum cleaner will not be able to clean hard-to-reach places, such as behind furniture in the corners, unlike a handheld one.

Customer review:

My elderly mother struggles up and down the stairs carrying her upright vacuum cleaner. I have been looking at robotic solutions for the past few years, but was put off by the high-end models costing over £800 and the cheaper products with poor reviews. This vacuum cleaner from Bagoote sits in the middle of the price range and has some excellent reviews around the internet.
It was important to me that the vacuum was able to clean both laminate floors and short pile carpets as my parents house has both. Having used the vacuum for almost a month, I can honestly say I am astounded by how good it is for the money. The charging base is small and unobtrusive; the instructions say to site it along a wall but as this was not possible we placed it between a bed and a cabinet and it has found its way home every time, even when the battery is getting low on charge. The motor is extremely quiet even in high power mode and the vacuum has 6 cleaning modes. We let the vacuum “explore” the entire upper floor of the house and were particularly impressed by its ability to gently bump into objects without leaving any marks or causing any damage to itself or the stationary object. The vacuum stopped smartly at the top of the stairs and turned to clean along the edge. The battery lasts just under 2 hours on a full charge by which time the vacuum has returned to the power dock to be recharged ready for the next time. The only thing which robotic vacuums don’t do is empty the dust chamber; this is very simple to remove and empty and has a filter on top to prevent dust getting into the motor.
If you are looking to get into robotic vacuums, this is a fabulous model to own. The dust compartment filled quite quickly and we were particularly impressed with the vacuum’s ability to pick up small objects (smaller than a cat biscuit,) dust, and pet hair. Before purchasing we checked to see if spare parts were readily available; the vacuum is supplied with 2 sets of rotary brushes and filters and replacement sets are sold by Amazon which is very reassuring. Although it isn’t Alexa compatible, you can add the vacuum control to a Harmony Hub by using the included remote control and from then on, just say “Alexa, clean my room” and away it goes. I just wish I had found this earlier in my search. I don’t think you will find a better robotic vacuum cleaner for less than £300. @Dave

Conclusion:

If you’re looking for a very powerful vacuum cleaner, you don’t mind carrying it around the house, and you have plenty of time to clean:
Your choice is an upright vacuum cleaner.

If you want to shorten the time spent on cleaning and do something else during that time:
Your choice is a robot vacuum cleaner.

How long does it take you to clean your home? And which vacuum cleaner do you think is more convenient, a handheld or a robot?
