12 Pieces of Jewelry That Are Too Outdated to Wear in 2020

It’s possible to add something interesting to your look or highlight your uniqueness using jewelry, but you have to make sure that it is still trendy. How can you identify jewelry that is outdated? In this article, you will find a full list of the anti-trends of 2020 and good replacements for them.

We at Bright Side keep track of all the new trends and constantly check the collections that have been shown by all the fashion houses.

12. Chokers

Several years ago, chokers, a popular accessory from the 90s, returned. Trendy women wore leather, velvet, and plastic ones on their necks. But the trend disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. In 2020, chokers are back, but in a different way: GUCCI, Chloe, Sacai, Alexander McQueen, and Versace added gems, expensive metals, and made multi-layers variations.

11. Basic round earrings

In 2020, designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, Missoni, and Brandon Maxwell suggest that you fight the shyness and become brighter, by replacing smaller elegant earrings with massive pieces that consist of several hoops.

10. Feathers

Year after year, accessories with feathers have been a big hit, so designers got pretty tired of them. Now fashion houses like Vivienne Westwood, Christian Dior, Jacquemus, Oscar de la Renta, and Prada suggest that we forget about them altogether in the new season and replace them with something more tropical, like for example, big seashells.

9. A set of earrings

The models from Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Tibi, Pyer Moss, and Marc Jacobs have been wearing just one earring for several years now. But only a few girls actually go for these experiments in everyday life. But 2020 seems like a good year to add a little bit of messiness to your appearance.

8. Diamonds

Miu Miu, Khaite, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Prabal Gurung, Burberry, Christian Dior and of course, Chanel unanimously agree that in 2020 you can wear simple earrings and multi-layered necklaces without diamonds.

7. Letters

Pendants with big letters are not trendy anymore and now they are being replaced with massive pictures of wild animals and insects. Dolce & Gabbana and Oscar de la Renta have shown the new jewelry for trendy women who don’t want to hide their wild personalities and Fendi designers decided that there are too many predators on the runways, so they came up with accessories with a turtle-shell print.

6. Coins

A couple of years ago, the trend of wearing coins appeared, but in this season love beats money. Big, and sometimes even huge, hearts were shown on almost every model in the collections of Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, and Chanel.

5. Stars

Stars are being replaced with spheres Bottega Veneta, Kenzo, Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, Valentino, and Ann Demeulemeester presented different spheres made of metal, glass, and wood. The designers got inspired by planets, the globe, magic balls, and Christmas decorations, so much so that any girl will be able to find what she likes.

4. A big pendant on a chain

Fashion houses like Zimmermann, Pyer Moss, Off-White, Alexander McQueen, and Vivienne Westwood claim that the new season is not the time for thin chains with big pieces of jewelry on them. They are being replaced with massive chains.

3. Multi-layered bracelets

Designers like Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Brandon Maxwell, and Dolce & Gabbana decided to make the 2020 Spring-Summer season as practical as possible and replace the multi-layered bracelets with small purses, and they suggest using these holders for IDs, cards, and maybe even glasses. This is a great solution because we never have enough pockets.

2. One ring

In 2020, it is not trendy to wear thin rings with small gems and it’s not trendy to have just one ring on your hand. More geometric-looking gems in different colors, like the ones sold by Brandon Maxwell, Fendi, and Alexander McQueen, deserve your attention.

1. Headbands

Thin headbands with rhinestones is a trend from 2012, but for some reason, you can still buy them in almost any accessory store. If you want to make your look more modern and trendy, try looking at Fendi models who wear leather or velvet headbands on the backs of their heads.

What kind of jewelry do you wear? Do you like classic pieces that are always appropriate?

I have never seen people wearing any of the things that are supposed to be trendy. Mostly I see people wearing what they want to. Half the pictures contain people wearing expensive stuff and most people can't afford to waste husdreds of pounds on a wrist purse

One good thing with « fashion » is that you don’t have to follow its weird trends! You can still wear jewelry the way you like it, you can keep your haircut as long as you feel it’s the best for you, and you do not have to put on those unbearable outfits if you don’t like them. Keep in mind that you are the one who decides.

None of these styles are outdated. There are new versions of them, but the original versions haven't gone anywhere just because something new has surfaced. Also the majority of these images compare two entirely different styles.

It's 2020 free of trends is what's in . Being true to self and comfortable is the new true. Not trying to fit in with others. It's enough pressure and problems as it is. Don't make life difficult or more complicated caring about what people are wearing. Do what makes you feel good. Be different, be unique and stand out be a leader. Conquer self,. Love self. Up lift each other not tear down for not being a follower. Love me for me not my attire.

Whatever I wear is what I make in style. Sorry, some of the outdated photos look swanky and are still in style. The Corona virus has put some many things in perspective for all of us. We make our own fashion from now on.....right now I have a clean face, lipgloss, short pants and vests for me. My fashion during this pandemic. Wishing everyone God's protection during this time.

You'd think something as simple as clothes is something that I would understand... I guess not
