10 Celebrities Whose Connections Might Surprise You

In Hollywood, the concept of “6 degrees of separation” is no joke anymore. Over the years, celebrities ranging from singers to television and film stars have disclosed links to other industry figures that audiences were unaware of. Whether they went to school together or knew each other before they were famous, a lot of actors and singers have had interactions that may seem strange.

That’s why Bright Side found 10 surprising facts about celebs who babysat for other people, sometimes before they were popular themselves.

1. Laura Dern would step in and babysit Angelina Jolie while her father was filming a movie.

Angelina Jolie’s Oscar-winning father, Jon Voight, was working on movies when she was young. Fellow Hollywood child, Laura Dern, would take care of her. Things got weird when, after a few years, Jolie married Billy Bob Thornton, who had been Dern’s boyfriend for a long time.

2. Tia and Tamera Mowry watched over the Olsen twins when they joined the Full House series.

In the 1990s, Tia and Tamera were best known for their famous comedy, but it turns out that acting wasn’t their main occupation. Tia Mowry said on The Meredith Vieira Show that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s parents hired Sister, Sister stars Tia and Tamera Mowry to fill in for them on Full House when it was their turn.

Tia said, “My brother played Teddy on Full House, so we always went to see the set.” “We would even watch the Olsen twins... The producers who hung out on set would say things like, ‘These girls are so cute.’ We even appeared on an episode of Full House. It reminds us of where we started out.”

3. Katie Lowes was Connie Britton’s assistant and helped her take care of her son.

Even though Lowes’ time as Connie Britton’s son Eyob’s babysitter didn’t last long (she ended up getting a role in Scandal), the former Nashville star still has a lot of respect for the actress.

Britton said, “I wanted her to be my nanny and my assistant so badly. She is just such a wonderful person, and I remember talking to her. She was helping me with my baby son, and then she told me, ’I got cast in a show called Scandal.’”

4. Kiefer Sutherland happily agreed to help Gwyneth’s mother with babysitting her.

Before Sutherland became Jack Bauer, he took care of Gwyneth Paltrow when she was still a child. He said, “I worked with her mother in a theater in Williamstown, Massachusetts, during the Williamstown Theatre Festival. I think I was asked to watch her for an hour or 2 a couple of times.”

Then he stated, “I thought it was funny because it’s hard to believe how quickly someone can go from 13 to 18. They look so different than when Gwyneth started working, I thought it was a different girl because I always thought she was 11 or 12 years old.”

5. Jennifer Garner agreed to watch over Stephen Colbert’s daughter between auditions.

Garner didn’t watch over a future star, but she did help Stephen Colbert, who was already a big name. In 1996, the late-night talk show host met Garner on the set of Spin City. He told Garner that he and his wife were looking for someone to help them with their daughter. Garner agreed to do the job between auditions.

She talked about Colbert’s daughter and said, “She was such a peanut and very clever.” Garner says she’s brilliant for her age. She remembers that his daughter and she used to go through her drawers and try on her clothes.

6. Alice Cooper offered to look after Keanu Reeves at the studio while his mom was busy.

In a 2017 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Reeves described how Alice Cooper used to babysit him. Due to the fact that Reeves’ mother was a costume designer in Toronto, she worked with prominent individuals, including Cooper.

And it’s just like you’d think it would be to have a rock star as a babysitter: “I remember once, Keanu and I tried to take on Alice Cooper,” Reeves’ childhood friend Evan Williams said. “He tied us together like a knot of people.”

7. Bethenny Frankel worked for the Hilton family, including being responsible for keeping an eye on Nicky and Paris Hilton.

Prior to joining The Real Housewives of New York City in 2008 and becoming one of the most prominent Real Housewives stars, Bethenny Frankel had odd jobs in the entertainment business. She worked as a production assistant on Saved by the Bell, but also babysat Nicky and Paris Hilton, 2 of Hollywood’s most renowned socialites.

Frankel stated that she met Nicky and Paris’ aunt, Kyle Richards, while working as a server at a prominent Beverly Hills restaurant. Richards assisted Frankel in obtaining employment as a babysitter, cook, and chauffeur for the 2 daughters. “I’ve known Kyle for a long time.” Frankel revealed years later, “I used to work for Kathy Hilton and drive Paris and Nicky to school, so I knew them via Kyle.”

8. Zac Posen took care of Lena during their younger years.

Lena Dunham had a great childhood. Not only did the creator of Girls grew up with artistic parents, but her babysitter, Zac Posen, also gave her free makeovers when she was young.

Dunham said in a tweet, “You were the best babysitter.” “You made my hair look ‘like a newscaster’ and gave me a leather skirt with frayed edges.”

9. Michael Bolton supported Paula Abdul by keeping her safe while her sister was working.

When Bolton was Paula Abdul’s babysitter when she was 7 years old, he would sing the American Idol alum to sleep. Bolton would ask Abdul to choreograph his show years later, which she did.

As a babysitter for the singer-dancer, how was Bolton? Abdul told Jimmy Kimmel: “He would never offer to assist me with my schoolwork. He just wanted to jam with the other musicians in the building where I lived.”

10. Anthony Kiedis confirmed that he was babysat by Cher growing up.

Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, wrote about his famous babysitter Cher in his book Scar Tissue. “I was sleeping, and Cher got up to go to the bathroom and get ready for bed.”

When the famed singer babysat Kiedis, he was 13 years old, and he wrote, “I recall thinking, ’This is not so horrible, sleeping next to this lovely woman.’” He also discussed it during his band’s 2016 appearance on Carpool Karaoke.
