If you are a movie lover and watch films on Netflix, you must be a person who enjoys binge-watching every weekend or at least in their free time. In a previous article, we shared a selection of movies hidden within the platform with our readers, but sooner or later, those options will run out, and you will be eager for more suggestions.
So, Bright Side went back into the most hidden and the least displayed films in Netflix’s home menu, and found a new group of movies for you to continue watching and enjoying. Get the popcorn ready!
1. The Stranger (1946)
This film was directed by Orson Welles, who also shared the lead role with Edward G. Robinson. It tells the story of an investigator who does not intend to stop until he finds a Nazi fugitive hiding in Connecticut under another guise. The shadow play is a hallmark of the film, with which you can enter the mystery and appreciate one of the best films of yesteryear that has gained value over time.
2. Good Will Hunting (1997)
Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Robin Williams are part of this story that, since its premiere, is worth seeing and having on your list. Will Hunting is a young man who works at a university’s cleaning service, despite being amazingly intelligent. That’s why Sean Maguire, a psychologist, takes an interest in changing Will’s mentality and helping him tap into all of his potential.

It is a moving story that has left its mark on those who have seen this film on Netflix, and therefore it is advisable to keep it very much in mind.
5. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) falls in love with a delivery girl, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), but it won’t be easy to win her heart, since he will have to face Ramona’s 7 evil ex-boyfriends in order to be her romantic partner. This was a series of graphic novels that made the jump to the big screen and that has gotten positive reviews. If you like Scott’s essence within the literary genre, you’ll love this movie.
6. Dolemite Is My Name (2019)
This is a Netflix original film featuring Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes. This movie tells the true story of Rudy Ray Moore, a singer, film producer. and comedian who gained prominence in the ’70s with his alter ego Dolemite. In addition to being a comedy film, you’ll be able to understand the reason behind what drove the film movement known as Blaxploitation.
7. Frances Ha (2012)
Director Noah Baumbach and actress Greta Gerwig worked together to write the story of this film. Frances Halladay is a woman trying to find her dream life as a dancer, but she must also take on the responsibilities of an adult. The protagonist’s enthusiasm for trying to achieve her goals will make you see situations that you may have experienced first-hand.
8. The Theory of Everything (2014)
This film, starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, deals with a part of the life of British scientist Stephen Hawking. Throughout the story, you will learn about the arrival and evolution of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in his life, the challenges that Jane Hawking, his wife, had to face, and how they coped with the problem as a couple.
9. Gone Girl (2014)
Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) discovers that his wife, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), has disappeared. And, as if that wasn’t enough, this situation happens in the middle of a marital crisis. As the police investigate the case, Nick looks like the main suspect. But thanks to some revealing truths you will see the outcome and final verdict in this two-hour film. A psychological thriller that you’ll enjoy and won’t want to stop watching.
10. Manson Family Vacation (2015)
Nick (Jay Duplass), a lawyer and a family man, receives the unpleasant news about his brother’s visit, Conrad (Linas Phillips), who is looking for him after a very long time. Then, both of them get involved in an adventure where everything will be related to one of Conrad’s greatest obsessions, Charles Manson. The film’s comic touch and the performances of both protagonists make this movie a good choice to include on your list.

This movie marked the filmmaking debut for Sian Heder (Orange is the New Black), and featured appearances by Ellen Page, Allison Janney, and Tammy Blanchard. A homeless woman decides to take on the responsibility of caring for a baby that is not hers, and passes her off as her daughter to seek refuge in the home of her ex-boyfriend’s mother. The story of both women is the basis for enjoying a good film and reflecting on life.
13. The Edge of Seventeen (2016)
Do you remember what your life was like at 17? This an example of that, represented by Nadine Byrd (Hailee Steinfeld), a student who lived through a complicated adolescent stage and experienced several problems with her mother, her brother, and her best friend, the latter 2 being the main triggers for her life to become a sea of emotions. Another entertaining movie that may remind you of some parts of your life.
14. The African Doctor (2016)
This French film was inspired by the true story of Seyolo Zantoko, a doctor who, after completing his studies in France, decides to not return to Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), and wants to practice his profession in France. In this movie, which is considered an art film, drama and comedy are mixed with careful detail, so you can have a good time getting to know his story and have fun with every scene you see.

This is an animated movie of Chinese origin that has received acclaim from the critics.
16. Thelma (2017)
This movie, made in Norway, tells the story of Thelma (Eili Harboe), a young woman who moves to Oslo to study at a university. There, she meets Anja (Kaya Wilkins), with whom she grows emotionally attached, and at the same time she begins to suffer attacks that lead her to experience apparently supernatural powers. Finding the link between the 2 events will keep you entertained for almost 2 hours.
17. Perfect Strangers (2017)
This Spanish film starring Belén Rueda, Eduard Fernández, and Ernesto Alterio brings a nightmare from the modern world to the table. Some friends play a game in which they unlock their mobile phones, while they read or listen to all of the messages they contain, exposing their secrets. The movie will expose you to several emotional moments, and it is very likely that you’ll be able to identify with some of the characters.
18. Private Life (2018)
Paul Giamatti and Kathryn Hahn embody a couple who is trying every possible way to start a family and have children, since the natural method is not an option. As the story progresses, you will see their evolution and all the problems the characters face, including the arrival of a family member who could be their daughter. A dramatic comedy that has been well-received within Netflix’s circle.
19. The Dirt (2019)
If you are a music fan, especially a fan of the metal genre, then this is the movie for you to watch. It lasts about 2 hours. It is based on the autobiography of the American glam band Mötley Crüe, its beginnings, the road to success, and the rollercoaster ride of ups and downs that its members went through, both personally and as a group. You may have seen it all, but from a film perspective, it will be nice to have this movie in your marathon.
Bonus: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
When we talk about British humor, there is one major reference: Monty Python. And, although their main work was done on television, this group of comedians also has a short filmography. This movie the most recommended of the group. It is a parody, very much in their style, of King Arthur and the medieval era, in which the main objective will be to find the Holy Grail, but not without first going through some adventures that are full of laughter and fun.
