Recently, Gwyneth Paltrow candidly shared with her Instagram audience during a Q+A session that she has indeed undergone Botox treatments. The actress described her current approach to beauty and age while mentioning one of her past experiences where things went wrong and she actually “looked horrible.”

The Oscar-winning actress has received a fan’s query, “Did you ever try Botox?” In reply, she posted on her Instagram stories, “God yes. Both successfully and unsuccessfully I’m afraid.” Another Instagram user inquired about the secret behind the actress’s radiant skin, to which Paltrow attributed her skincare regimen, emphasizing her unwavering dedication to it.

Over the years, Gwyneth has remained candid about her approach to skincare and her perspective on the aging process. During an interview in 2020, the Iron Man actress disclosed, “In the past, I’ve never said that I won’t do plastic or cosmetic surgery, because I think it’s important to stay honest to the fact that we all change as we age.”

Although she presently refrains from using Botox, Gwyneth has acknowledged her use of another injectable called Xeomin, which is FDA-approved and often referred to as the “naked injectable.” She expressed, “I never want to look younger or not like myself.”

The entrepreneur added, “When I turned 40, I had like a midlife crisis and got anti-wrinkle injections all over my face, and it was awful.” She elaborated on the ordeal, saying, “I looked horrible — one eye was actually like higher than the other — and it was definitely a big mistake, though luckily a temporary one.”

Regarding cosmetic surgery, “I think it’s nice when women share, because there’s a lot of shame around surgery or injectables or fillers, and it would be nice if people felt confident about the choices they were making,” Paltrow shared. “But if they want to have a beauty secret, that’s okay, too. I’m an open book—I’ve shared what works for me, because that’s how I’ve always learned,” added the businesswoman.

The 51-year-old Goop founder enthusiastically shared her preference for facial massages, including lymphatic drainage and muscle work, as opposed to laser treatments. She expressed her reservations about laser treatments on the face, citing peculiar results she has observed in some individuals, which make her feel uneasy about them, describing it as a risky choice.

Occasionally, she indulges in facials incorporating red light therapy for addressing inflammation. She also mentioned the Lyma Laser available at Goop, highlighting its gentle and effective nature.

Paltrow went on to discuss her perspective on aging, attributing the obsession with youthful appearances to societal pressures rather than personal desires. She stressed that women should embrace aging and prioritize their health, rejecting the notion that they should strive to remain forever youthful.

She emphasized that every woman should have the freedom to choose how they approach aging, whether it involves extensive aesthetic procedures or a more natural path. Gwyneth encouraged women to make their own choices based on their preferences and values.

During the Q+A session, a fan also inquired about her relationship with Dakota Johnson, the actress who has been romantically involved with Gwyneth’s former partner, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, since 2017.

Paltrow warmly expressed, “We’re actually very good friends. I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person,” in response to a question about her relationship with Dakota Johnson. This came at a time when both Johnson and Martin were spotted celebrating Johnson’s 34th birthday together. Gwyneth and the musician were married from 2003 until their divorce was officially concluded in 2016. Together, they are parents to two children, Apple, 19, and Moses, 17.

It seems that the actress has also a very particular beauty routine. She opened up earlier about how one secret oil keeps her looking so youthful and ageless.
