Make sure all traces of grease are gone and definitely sand (lightly) to scuff up the surface of your laminate countertops.
  Do follow the instructions that say to work in small sections at a time with all 3 colors. You won’t get the same result if you work over the entire surface with one color at a time. Also, start in an inconspicuous part of your counter, one that can be covered up with an appliance or bowl since you will be learning as you go. Your first section may not look as visually appealing as the last. You will get better as you progress through the sponging process. @racehorse6
