Gwyneth Paltrow Explains Why She and Her Husband Sleep Separately
Many married couples in Japan sleep in separate beds. Surprisingly, sleeping separately can breathe new life into relationships. What’s even more intriguing is that Gwyneth Paltrow shares this belief, considering separate sleeping arrangements as a vital ingredient for a joyful and enduring marriage.
It keeps their relationship fresh.
According to the Shakespeare in Love actress, not living together full-time, helps her and her husband, producer Brad Falchuk, keep the spark alive. Falchuk spends three nights a week at his own house and four nights at Paltrow’s, and the arrangement seems to work perfectly for the couple. “Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal, and we shouldn’t change a thing,” Paltrow shared.
It’s better for their kids.
Paltrow and her ex-husband, Chris Martin, have two kids — daughter Apple, and son Moses. She and now-husband Brad Falchuk, 51, also co-parent two kids from his previous marriage — Isabella and Brody.
The actress shared that they chose to live separately to prioritize the well-being of their children from previous relationships. “We are still doing it in our own way. With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing,” she said.
She thinks having kids affects marriage.
Being a parent is widely recognized as the most demanding job imaginable, capable of affecting your relationships.
“It’s hard on a relationship. Like I’ve looked back now on like the data set of parents with young kids and it just ... ruins the relationship. It’s really hard,” the actress shared. “I think if both people in the relationship are willing to do the work then it’s going to be so much easier,” she added.
She believes in soulmates.
Although the actress didn’t meet the right person right away, she firmly believes that you can sense when you’ve found your Mr. or Mrs. Right.
“I do believe in [soulmates]. I mean, I think that there can be more than one. But I do believe that there’s that person that can feel so right. And I think you do know. You know pretty early when it’s the right person,” she said.
Gwyneth Paltrow, at the age of 50, radiates an enduring beauty and confidence. Interestingly, she openly admits to favoring her 50s over her 30s.
