7 Ways to Energize Your Body Without Coffee

Drinking a lot of coffee, guarana, or buying supplements to gain more energy doesn’t always work when you’re looking to be more alert throughout the day. It’s best to stay energized in the most natural way you can. There are many healthy ways to keep yourself stimulated when you feel fatigued and tired — even making the smallest changes in your daily routine can make the biggest difference in your life.

1. Take a power nap

For some people, taking a power nap is helpful for improving alertness and performance. Taking a short 20-30 minute nap in the afternoon can help you recharge, and if you’re really looking to be exact and set your timer right, a 26-minute nap is ideal to get the best benefits.

As tempting as it may be, don’t go over the top with napping because it might reduce the amount of sleep you get at night, leading to less energy throughout the day.

2. Try sleeping 4 hours at night

If you are low on energy due to sleep deprivation, try getting less sleep. As weird as it sounds, this tip will help you get a good night’s sleep. To get the most out of this process, avoid napping during the day. Start off with just 4 hours of sleep and add 15–30 minutes every night.

3. Place a limit on caffeine

Even though caffeine is known to give you more energy, it’s important to limit the amount you ingest throughout the day because it may make you feel less energized once it wears off. You might be feeling like you are depending on it to stay active, and it’s never a good idea to depend on something.

In addition, it can heighten your stress and make you feel anxious. The optimal amount of caffeine you should have is up to 400 milligrams.

4. Breathe in the essentials

There’s a sparkling treatment called aromatherapy that “uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being.” It uses the scents of oils to better your 3 crucial best friends: body, mind, and spirit. Believe it or not, our minds inhale smells in impressive ways. Breathing in essential lemon oil may help us fight exhaustion and depression, while peppermint oil improves concentration and alertness.

How to use:

  • Mix 2 drops of essential lemon oil into your shampoo or conditioner before you shower
  • Mix 2 drops of essential peppermint oil in a spray bottle filled with water, then spray it all over your shoes or gym bag before working out.

The third essential oil is called eucalyptus, and you can use it in whichever one you find most helpful to you.

5. Exercise, preferably outside

Exercising outside rather than inside improves energy, reduces stress levels, and heightens alertness. It also has a general good impact on your emotions, like enthusiasm and decreased anger. In addition to these benefits, you can also get some Vitamin D from the sun during the summer months, which boost mood-lifting endorphins.

Although there are many benefits to exercising outside, there are some precautions like the levels of air pollution in your area — make sure you know the facts because this can trigger things like asthma and allergies. Don’t assume that running on a treadmill is bad — it actually helps you be in control and motivates you, thus makes you feel happier and better.

6. Eat more protein

Eating protein charges up your energy levels and plays an important role in carrying oxygen through your body in your bloodstream. It’s best to avoid sweets and carbs when you are craving something to eat because, although they can satisfy you at that moment, you may feel fuzzy afterward.

Instead, try to snack on foods that have protein and fats such as veggies and dip, Greek yogurt with fruit, or peanut butter and crackers to increase your energy levels.

7. Stay hydrated

Drink 8 glasses of water every day to stay energized because your mind is powerfully influenced by your hydration status. Even minimal dehydration can decrease parts of your brain function. It can dwindle your mood, memory, and concentration, and increase headaches and fatigue.

What do you think about some of these tips? Are you willing to change some of your daily habits to improve your energy?
