Why We Ought to Start Sleeping Without Any Pajamas

People who sleep less are more likely to have problems with excess weight, tend to be less active, and are generally less healthy, according to this survey. However, as it turns out, one of the easiest ways to avoid all of this is to take off your pajamas.

We at Bright Side have discovered that you can benefit from sleeping without any clothes on in many unexpected ways.

1. It helps you sleep better.

It turns out that we sleep better when our body temperature is a bit lower. Even a slight increase like 1.1°F (0.4°C) can have an effect on the brain areas that regulate sleep cycles, therefore, disturbing our sleep. Obviously, any additional clothing would cause more heat, which is why sleeping naked is the best solution.

2. It protects our skin.

survey showed that the average length of time people wore their pajamas before washing them was 13 nights for men and 17 nights for women. However, hygiene specialists say that it’s not enough to protect us from the harmful bacteria that these pajamas often gather. Moreover, textiles can contain chemicals that penetrate our skin and irritate it, so it’s much healthier to sleep naked.

3. It improves relationships.

Skin-to-skin contact is proven to increase the release of the “love hormone,” oxytocin in mothers and their babies, which leads to a stronger bond between them. But moreover, as the research claims in the book, Close Encounters: Communication in Relationships: “We feel more connected to someone if they touch us.” So sleeping without any clothes on would provide more time for touching, helping you to feel closer to your partner.

4. It prevents weight gain.

Keeping our bodies colder at night can also help us to stay slimmer. A study showed that cold temperatures increase our calorie-burning abilities since people who slept in the colder rooms burned 75 calories more than those who slept in warmer temperatures. Pajamas definitely make you warmer, so you’d better take them off to prevent gaining extra pounds.

5. It boosts our self-esteem.

Interestingly enough, a study showed that being naked makes us feel better about our bodies, helping us to become more satisfied with our lives. And naturally, nighttime is the best time to practice it, so try sleeping naked — it may affect your self-image, leaving you feeling more confident overall.

I love to sleep in the nude. Clothes wrap around you too much with you roll over to get comfy.
